We Know You Have A Few Questions
Will I run out of eggs if I donate?
No. You are born with approximately 2 million eggs. Each month a few of these eggs enter a growth phase - one egg will mature – and if it isn’t fertilized it will be lost along with the rest of that group of eggs. i.e. an egg donation will rescue eggs that would have been flushed down the loo! (what a waste!)
How many doctor appointments will I have to attend?
If selected – you will need to attend a minimum of 7 appointments (during regular office hours) over a 3 - 4 month period. (doctors note can be provided)
What will it be like having “my children” running out around there?
Eggs alone do not a child make! Whilst your eggs are a crucial part of the process – they are only one of the MANY puzzle pieces that need to fit together in order for a recipient to have a baby.
Compensation for egg donors?
Although egg donation in the UK has to be done for altruistic reasons (you can’t sell your eggs!) egg donors in the UK are entitled to receive compensation of £750 for their time and effort.
